NYC Weather Forecast: Rain, Storms Loom Into Next Week

NEW YORK, NY — Keep that umbrella handy. There's a chance rain could soak New York City every day this week, keeping much of the skies covered in clouds, the latest National Weather Service forecast shows.

The first chance of showers, along with a possible a thunderstorm, arrives late Tuesday afternoon as a cold front moves into the area after a sunny day with a high temperature near 83 degrees, the weather service says.

Wednesday will be partly sunny before rain threatens to fall again that night. From then on a chance of rain will constantly linger into early next week, with more thunderstorms possibly striking Friday, the forecast shows.

Showers are most likely to fall on Saturday, when the chance of rain peaks at 42 percent, the forecast says. Clouds are expected to cover much of the sky throughout the week.

High temperatures are expected to be in the 70s this week, roughly normal for the end of May.
