NYC Weather Forecast: Storms To Strike Over Weekend
Half an inch of rain could fall on Saturday.
NEW YORK, NY — Weekend thunderstorms are expected to spoil the sunshine but bring relief from the early summer heat in New York City. A chance of rain will loom over much of Saturday and Sunday after a cloudy and cool Friday, the latest National Weather Service forecast shows.
The temperature is expected to reach a high near just 73 degrees on Friday, well below the normal high of 81. The first showers could roll in Friday night before likely thunderstorms arrive Saturday morning, the forecast says.
About half an inch of rain could fall throughout Saturday, likely accompanied by thunder for much of the day, the forecast shows. A similarly cool high temperature near 74 is expected.

Sunday morning will bring a slight break from the rain before afternoon showers and thunder threaten to strike in time for the NYC Pride parade, the forecast shows. The mercury is expected to hit a high near 83 degrees.
Sunny skies will return Monday with a high near 77, the forecast shows.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 6 to 10 mph.
