NYC Weather Forecast: Temperatures Plunge Before Snow Returns

Single-digit wind chills are expected Friday and Saturday.

NEW YORK, NY — You'll want to bundle up this weekend. Wind chills will drop temperatures into the single digits late Friday and Saturday before more snow hits the city on Sunday, the National Weather Service predicts.

A frigid Friday is expected after a chance of overnight snow. The sun will be out, but the temperature will drop to about 27 degrees by 11 a.m. Wind gusts as strong as 29 MPH could make it feel as cold as 5 degrees at night.

"Icy conditions are expected to develop this morning as precipitation ends and temperatures drop below the freezing mark," the National Weather Service said in a statement Friday.

The wind chills will be just as cold on this likely cloudy Saturday, when there's an expected high of 31 degrees.

Snow could start falling early Sunday morning and continue until about 2 p.m., when some rain will enter the mix. Flakes may return after midnight on Monday morning. But it will likely be just a dusting, with less than an inch expected between Sunday morning and Monday morning.
