NYC Weather Forecast: Warm Temperatures Return, Chance Of Rain

NEW YORK, NY — After a brief cold snap, sunny skies and warm temperatures will return to New York City this week as the spring season approaches, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

High temperatures will be in the 50s and high 40s this week, topping out at 61 degrees on Friday, the National Weather Service predicts. New Yorkers are still in for cold nights and mornings, with low temperatures dipping into the 30s and the upper 20s.

Gusty winds are expected in the beginning of the week with speeds as high as 24 miles per hour on Tuesday, according to the forecast. The winds are the result of a low pressure tracks across eastern Canada and high pressure builds from the Midwest.

The week will likely be capped off with rain. There's about a 50 percent chance of rain on Thursday night and rain is expected during the day Friday, the National Weather Service predicts. Despite the rain, much of the workweek will be more pleasant than the past week weeks.

• Tuesday Night Clear, with a low around 29. Northwest wind 6 to 13 mph;
• Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 46. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
• Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
