NYC Weather Forecast: Weekend Snow Possible As Winter Holds On

Thought the city was done with snow? Think again.

NEW YORK, NY — If you thought New York City was done with snow, you thought wrong. The first full weekend of April holds a chance of snowfall just days after a springtime storm dumped more than six inches of flakes on some parts of the city.

Snow is possible from Friday night into early Saturday morning, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast. There's a chance of a wintry mix of rain and snow late Friday, followed by a chance of snow showers between midnight and 2 a.m. Saturday, the forecast says.

There's an overall 50 percent chance of precipitation on that chilly night, which will bring a low temperature around 33 degrees, the weather service predicts. It'll follow a likely rainy Friday with a high near 53.

The city still may not be done with wintry precipitation after Friday. The NWS says there's a 40 percent chance of rain and snow on Monday after a cloudy and chilly weekend.

The early part of this week is expected to be rainy and cool. A warm front will bring rain Tuesday and push temperatures into the low 60s on Wednesday before a cold front blows into the area, the NWS predicts.

"The cold front will bring a round of showers as it moves across and a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out," the weather service said in a statement. "Dry weather returns Wednesday evening into Thursday as high pressure moves towards the region."
