NYC Weather: Near 90-Degree Highs Coming To City Ahead Of Memorial Day

But this week's summery heat could be washed out by a rainy holiday weekend.

NEW YORK CITY — The unofficial start of summer is hitting New York City early.

High temperatures this week will near 90 degrees as city dwellers get ready for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

Tuesday's high will be 80 degrees — and the mercury will keep rising throughout the week, the forecast states.

"Partly sunny, with a high near 87," Thursday's forecast states.

But the summery weather — which could include occasional showers and thunderstorms later in the work week — may not stick around long enough for Memorial Day weekend itself.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-70s over the three-day weekend, according to the forecast.

And each day over the long weekend carries a chance of showers, the forecast states.
