NYC Weather: Near-Freezing Low Possible As Fall Chill Sets In

The low temperature could dip to around 33 degrees Thursday night, well below normal for this time of year.

NEW YORK — You'll want to keep those coats out. The temperature could dip to a near-freezing low this week as unseasonably brisk temperatures take hold of New York City, the National Weather Service says.

Sunshine is expected throughout the week, with the mercury reaching a high near 54 degrees on Monday as temperatures "rebound" from the weekend chill, the weather service says.

Tuesday's high will near 60 before temperatures take a midweek nosedive, bringing a high near 46 on Thursday — about 15 degrees below normal, according to the weather service. The low that night is expected to dip to around 33, around 14 degrees below normal, the weather service says.

Things will warm up slightly into the upper 40s and low 50s for the potentially wet weekend — at least a 30 percent chance of showers is expected Saturday and Sunday, the weather service says.
