NYC Weather: Rain, Frigid Temperatures Loom As City Escapes Snow
New Yorkers should brace for a wet commute as temperatures drop even though the chance of snow that loomed this week has disappeared.

NEW YORK — The snowpocalypse isn't coming — yet. New York City will escape the season's first snowfall Thursday even as frigid temperatures and evening showers loom, forecasters say.
The chance of snow that threatened the city earlier this week has disappeared. But New Yorkers should still brace for a wet evening commute thanks to the nearly quarter-inch of rain that could fall from about 4 p.m. to midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
The showers will come as the mercury drops below freezing to a low around 30 degrees early Friday morning, the forecast shows. The temperature won't rise above 39 on Friday — roughly 18 degrees below normal, the weather service says.

Saturday will be similarly chilly before temperatures jump back up to the mid-50s Sunday and Monday, according to the weather service. A chance of snow will sneak back into the forecast Tuesday night, the forecast shows.
