NYC Weather: Rain, Rain, When Will It Go Away?
A half inch of rain and 38 mph wind gusts will defy New Yorkers' efforts to stay dry Friday, forecasters warn.

NEW YORK CITY — Umbrellas likely won't keep New Yorkers dry Friday.
A half inch of rain and near-40 mph wind gusts will make for a soggy end to New York City's work week, forecasters warn.
The dreary weather Friday is a meteorological guarantee, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

"Chance of precipitation is 100%," the forecast states. "New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."
New York City, however, appears poised to escape the nastier weather predicted for Long Island, southern Westchester and southern Connecticut, a National Weather Service message states.

Still, temperatures will drop from 47 degrees to 41 degrees in the city by 5 p.m. after breezy conditions produce wind gusts up to 38 mph, the forecast states.
But it's not all dreary news — rainy conditions give way to sunny skies by Saturday, according to the forecast.

Rain. Temperature falling to around 41 by 5pm. Breezy, with a north wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

A 50 percent chance of rain before 11pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 41. West wind 14 to 16 mph.
