NYC Weather: Record-Breaking 90-Degree Heat Could Return Friday
Temperatures soared to 90 degrees Thursday, breaking decades-old records — and forecasters expect they'll be tied or shattered again Friday.

NEW YORK CITY — Expect one more day of potentially record-breaking 90-degree heat in New York City Friday.
Highs in Central Park hit 90 degrees Thursday, shattering a record set in 1977, according to the National Weather Service.
“It was the hottest April day in over a decade for much of the region,” the service’s New York office tweeted.

“Daily records were tied or broken at all 6 of our climate sites as temperatures soared 20-30 degrees above normal.”

And, for New Yorkers who missed out on frolicking and gallivanting in the summery weather, it looks like Friday will give them one more chance.

Temperatures likely will tie or break records again Friday, the National Weather Service tweeted.
Highs will be 86 degrees in Central Park and near that mark across the city, along with mostly sunny skies, according to the forecast.
But, unfortunately, the good times won’t last until the weekend.
“This will be the last chance for now, as wet weather returns this weekend bringing temperatures back to normal by next week,” the National Weather Service tweeted.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind 6 to 10 mph.

A chance of showers before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2pm and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 63. East wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a chance of showers between 11pm and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 58. East wind 6 to 8 mph.
