NEW YORK CITY — Severe thunderstorms and flash floods could slam New York City Monday and Tuesday, forecasters predict.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous outlook Monday for up to an inch of heavy rain and storms that could make Tuesday morning commutes less than pleasant.

"Showers and thunderstorms could produce locally heavy rainfall Tuesday morning that leads to scattered areas of flash flooding, mainly early Tuesday morning, during the morning commute," the hazardous weather outlook reads.
