NYC Weather: Weekend Chill Comes With Gusty Winds

The high temperature will dip into the 40s on a windy Sunday.

NEW YORK — Layer season is officially here. A high in the 40s and gusty winds will make for a brisk Sunday in New York City after a potentially rainy start to the weekend, the National Weather Service says.

Overnight showers could follow a sunny, cool Friday with a high temperature near 60 degrees, the weather service says. A small chance of rain will loom into early Saturday afternoon and return from that evening to early Sunday morning, the weather service's forecast shows.

The skies will mostly clear for an unusually cold Sunday with a high near just 49 degrees, about 13 degrees below normal, the weather service says. The nippy air will be accompanied by wind gusts as strong as 30 MPH, making it feel more like the upper 30s at times, the forecast shows.
