NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes for July 7 to 9

Heads up: The 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, J, M, N, Q, R, S and W trains won't be running normally this weekend.

NEW YORK, NY — If you need to get around the city this weekend, here's what might make it harder as service changes hit the subway for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service."

Around the city, 19 train lines will be running with modified service starting late Friday night, July 6, to Monday morning, July 9, according to the MTA.

2 train:

  • From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2 train service is suspended in both directions between Wakefield-241th St. and Gun Hill Road due to track replacement. 2 trains will run between Gun Hill Road in the Bronx, and Franklin Ave., and via the 4 line to/from Crown Hts-Utica Ave. in Brooklyn. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service and make all 2 line station stops between Wakefield-241 St and Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx. Transfer between free shuttle buses and 2 trains at Gun Hill Road.
  • From 11:30 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2 train service is suspended in both directions between Franklin Ave. and Flatbush Ave.-Brooklyn College due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan. 2 trains will run between Gun Hill Road in the Bronx, and Franklin Ave., and via the 4 line to/from Crown Hts-Utica Av. Free shuttle buses will make all 2 line station stops between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College. Transfer between free shuttle buses and 2, 3 and 4 trains at Franklin Ave.

4 train:

  • From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, 4 trains will run local in both directions between Grand Central-42nd St. and 125th St. due to track replacement.

4/6 trains:

  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, uptown 4 and 6 trains will skip 23rd St., 28th St. and 33rd St, due to station enhancements at 28th St. Use a downtown 4 local or 6 to complete your trip. Transfer at Grand Central-42nd St. or 14th St.-Union Square.

5 train:

  • From 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 7 and from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 5 trains will run local in both directions Grand Central-42nd St. and 125th St, every 15 minutes due to track replacement. As a reminder, 5 service ends early on Friday nights between Bowling Green and E. 180th St. As an alternative, take the 2 and/or 4.

6 train:

  • From 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8, Manhattan-bound 6 trains will skip Buhre Ave., Middletwon Road, Westchester Square, Zerega Ave., and Castle Hill Ave. due to track maintenance. Use a Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 train to complete your trip. Transfer at Parkchester or Pelham Bay Park.

A/C trains:

  • At all times until September 2018, A and C trains skip 163rd St.-Amsterdam Ave. in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168th St. A and C, 155th St. A and C, or 157th St. 1 instead. Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the A and C at 168th St. or 155th St. with MetroCard. Need to transfer to another bus? Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus.

A/S trains:

  • At all times until Monday, September 3, A service will be suspended in both directions between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Ave. due to a flood protection project in the Rockaways. During this closure, A service will operate between Inwood-207th St. and Broad Channel, and via the S to/from Rockaway Park-Beach 116th St. S shuttle trains will run between Rockaway Park-Beach 116th St. and Beach 90th St., and via the A to/from Far Rockaway-Mott Ave. For Far Rockaway/Mott Ave.-bound service take the S via transfer at Beach 90th St.

B train:

  • Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, B service will end early due to station enhancements at 86th St. and 110th St. Take the D and/or Q instead. As a reminder, B service does not run on weekends.

B/C trains:

  • At all times until September 2018, B and C trains will skip Cathedral Parkway-110th St. in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, walk to the nearby B and C stations at 116th St. and 103rd St., along Fredrick Douglas Blvd/Central Park West. Or take the 1 at 110th St., along Broadway. Use the M10 bus along Fredrick Douglas Blvd and transfer to the B and C (A overnight) at 116th St. or 103rd St. with MetroCard. If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 116 St or 103 St for a transfer to the bus.
  • At all times until late October 2018, B and C trains will skip 72nd St. in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use nearby B and C stations at 81st St.-Museum of Natural History and 59th St.-Columbus Circle. Or take the 1, 2 or 3 at 72nd St., along Broadway. Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd and transfer to the B and C (A overnight) at 81st St. or 59th St. with MetroCard. If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 81 St or 59 St for a transfer to the bus.
  • At all times until late October 2018, B and C trains will skip 86th St. in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use nearby B and C stations at 81st St.-Museum of Natural History and 96th St. Or take the 1 at 86th St., along Broadway. Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd. and transfer to the B and C (A overnight) at 81st St. or 96th St. with MetroCard. If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 81 St or 96 St for a transfer to the bus.

D train:

  • From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, D service is rerouted in both directions via the A express between 59th St.-Columbus Circle and Jay St.-MetroTech, and via the F between Jay St.-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. due to signal improvements. As an alternative, use A,C and E stations on 8th Av. or N, Q and R stations on Broadway to complete your trip. F trains will make all D line station stops between Atlantic Ave.-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. Free shuttle buses will operate between W. 4th St.-Wash Square and Grand St. Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority A, C, D, E, F, N, Q and R; Jay St.-MetroTech A, C, D, N and R or 4th Ave.-9th St. D, G and R.
  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Norwood-205th St. bound D trains will run express from 145th St. to Fordham Road due to track maintenance. As an alternative, use a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound D train to complete your trip. Transfer at Fordham Road, Tremont Ave. or 145th St.
  • From 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Norwood-205th St.-bound D trains will skip 170th St., 174th-175th streets, and 182nd-183rd streets due to track maintenance. As an alternative, use a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.-bound D train to complete your trip. Transfer at Fordham Road, Tremont Ave. or 167th St.

E/F trains:

  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Manhattan-bound E and F trains will skip Sutphin Blvd. F, Briarwood and 75th Ave. due to track maintenance. As an alternative, use a Jamaica Center-bound E or Jamaica-bound F to complete your trip. Transfer at 71st Ave., Union Turnpike, or Jamaica Van Wyck E, or Parsons Blvd. F.

E/R trains:

  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Manhattan-bound E and R trains run express from 71st Ave. to Queens Plaza due to track replacement. As an alternative, use a Jamaica Center-bound E local or 71st Ave.-bound R train to complete your trip. Transfer at Queens Plaza, Roosevelt Ave. or 71st Ave. As a reminder, R trains do not run overnight in Queens.

F trains:

  • At all times until mid-2018, Manhattan-bound F trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Parkway and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line.
    • For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound F train to Kings Highway or 18th Ave. and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.-bound F.
    • For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound F train to Kings Highway or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound F. INDENTFor service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound F train to Kings Highway or 18th Ave. and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.-bound F.
  • From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, F service is rerouted in both directions via the Q express between Lexington Ave./63rd St. and Atlantic Ave.-Barclays Center, and via the D between Atlantic Ave.-Barclays Center and Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. due to signal improvements. As an alternative, use A, C and E stations on 8th Ave. or N, Q and R stations on Broadway to complete your trip. D trains will make all F line station stops between Jay St.-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority A, C, D, E, F, N, Q and R; Canal St. F, N Q and R or Jay St.-MetroTech A, C, D, N and R. Free shuttle buses will run along two routes: between W. 4th St.-Wash Square and East Broadway, and between Jay St.-MetroTech and York St.
  • From 10:45 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Manhattan-bound F trains are rerouted via the N line from Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. to 36th St. due to track maintenance. As a reminder, D trains will make all F line station stops between Jay St.-MetroTech and Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. this weekend.

G train:

  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, G service will be suspended in both directions between Court Sq. and Bedford-Nostrand Aves. due to track maintenance. G trains will run between Church Ave. and Bedford-Nostrand Aves. Free shuttle buses will make all G line station stops between Court Sq. and Bedford-Nostrand Aves. Transfer between G trains and free shuttle buses at Bedford-Nostrand Aves.

J train:

  • At all times until Summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound J trains skip 121st St. due to station rehabilitation work. For service to this station, take the J to Sutphin Blvd. and transfer to a Broad S.t-bound J. As a reminder, Broad St.-bound J trains skip 121st St. from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the Z instead. For service from this station, take the J to 111st St. and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J.
  • From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8, J service will be suspended in both directions between Crescent St. and Jamaica Center due to station rehabilitation work at 104th St. and 121st St. J trains will run between Broad St. in Lower Manhattan and Crescent St. in Brooklyn. Free shuttle buses will make all J line station stops between Crescent St. and 121st St., and connect with the E at Jamaica-Van Wyck. Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Jamaica-Van Wyck E and/or Crescent St. J.

J/M trains:

  • From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, July 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 8, Crescent St.-bound J and Metropolitan Ave.-bound M trains will skip Hewes St., Lorimer St., and Flushing Ave. due to track replacement. As an alternative, use a Manhattan-bound J or M to complete your trip. Transfer at Myrtle Ave., Marcy Ave., or Delancey-Essex Sts. As a reminder, M service runs between Myrtle Ave. and Metropolitan Ave. late nights.

M train:

  • Beginning 8:15 p.m. Friday, July 6, M service will end early between 71st Ave. and Delancey-Essex Sts. due to signal improvements.

N train:

  • At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Ave., 18th Av., 20th Ave., Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86th St. due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.
    • For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound N to Bay Pkwy or 8th Ave. and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N.
    • For New Utrecht Ave.-62 St., take the D. Transfer between N and D trains at 36th St. or Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.
    • For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. and transfer to a Manhattan-bound N.
  • At all times until February 2019, N trains will skip Broadway and 39th Ave. in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations at 30th Ave., 36th Ave., or Queensboro Plaza via the Q102 bus.
  • From 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, N trains will be rerouted via the R line in both directions between DeKalb Ave. in Brooklyn, and Canal St. in Lower Manhattan due to signal improvements.
  • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 9, Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N trains will skip 30th Ave. and 36th Ave. due to station enhancements at Broadway and 39th Ave. As an alternative, use an Astoria-bound N train to complete your trip. Transfer at Queensboro Plaza or Astoria Blvd. As a reminder, N trains will not stop at Broadway or 39th Ave.

Q train:

  • From 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 8, Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound Q trains will run express from Prospect Park to Kings Hwy due to structural improvements. As an alternative, use a Manhattan-bound Q train to complete your trip. Transfer at Kings Hwy, Newkirk Plaza, Church Ave., or Prospect Park.

W train:

  • Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, W service will end early due to station enhancements at Broadway and 39th Ave. As an alternative, take the N or R. As a reminder, W trains do not run on weekends.
