NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes For July 8-9
The 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, C, E, D, F, M, N, Q, R, J and G trains will all be affected by modified service this weekend.

NEW YORK, NY — A whopping 16 train lines will be running with modified service this weekend from July 8 through July 9 — some worse than others.
Here's how the MTA's work will affect your commute this weekend from late Friday night, July 7, through early Monday morning, July 10.
2/3 Train:

Until Spring 2018, 2/3 service will be suspended in Brooklyn each weekend from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
- Uptown 2 trains will be running express from Third Avenue and 149th Street to E 180th Street from 3:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 8-9.
- For service to Jackson, Prospect and Intervale Avenues, as well as to Simpson, Freeman, 174 Streets and E Tremont Avenue, take the 2 or 5 to E 180 Street and transfer to a downtown 2 or 5. For service from these stations, take the 2 or 5 to 149 Street-Grand Concourse and transfer to an uptown 2 or 5.
4 Train:

- There will be elevator service to and from the downtown platform at 51st Street station until October 2017. Click here to check system-wide escalator and elevator statuses.
5 Train:
- Uptown 5 trains will be running express from Third Avenue and 149th Street to E 180th Street from 3:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 8-9. E 180th Street-bound trains will run express from 241st Street to E 180th Street, with no elevator service to and from the downtown platform at 51st Street station. Uptown trains will be running express from Third Avenue and 149th Street to E 180th Street.
- For service to Jackson, Prospect and Intervale Avenues, as well as to Simpson, Freeman, 174 Streets and E Tremont Avenue, take the 2 or 5 to E 180 Street and transfer to a downtown 2 or 5. For service from these stations, take the 2 or 5 to 149 Street-Grand Concourse and transfer to an uptown 2 or 5.
6 Train:
- There will be no elevator service to and from the downtown platform at 51st Street station. Check here for system-wide escalator and elevator statuses.
7 Train:
- From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, July 7-10, Flushing-bound trains will be skipping 33rd, 40th, 52nd and 69th Streets. Hunters Point Avenue and Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue trains will board at the Flushing-bound platform. Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Hunters Point Avenue trains will board at the Manhattan-bound platform.
- For service to these stations, take the 7 to 61st Street-Woodside or 74th Street and transfer to a Hudson Yards-bound 7. For service from these stations, take the 7 to 61st Street-Woodside or Queensboro Plaza and transfer to a Flushing-bound 7.
A Train:
- Trains will run via the F line in both directions between W Fourth Street and Jay Street-MetroTech. Trains will make local stops in both directions at 23rd and 50th Streets.
- E and J trains provide alternate service from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, July 7-10 and July 14-17.
- No A service will be available at Spring, Canal, Chambers, Fulton and High Streets.
- For Spring, Canal, and Chambers Streets, the MTA suggests taking the E instead. Transfer between trains at W Fourth Street. For Fulton Street, take the J instead. Transfer between trains at Delancey Street/Essex Street station or use the nearby World Trade Center Station. Transfer between trains at W Fourth St. For High Street, use the nearby York Street station instead.
C Train:
- Trains will run via the F line in both directions between W Fourth Street and Jay Street-MetroTech.
- E and J trains provide alternative service July 8-9 and July 15-16.
- There will be no C service at Spring, Canal, Chambers, Fulton and High Streets. For Spring, Canal and Chambers, the MTA suggests taking the E instead and transferring between trains at W Fourth Street.
- For Fulton Street, take the J instead. Transfer between trains at Delancey Street/Essex Street station or use the nearby World Trade Center Station. Transfer between trains at W Fourth St. For High Street, use the nearby York Street station instead.
E Train:
- There will be no trains between 71st Avenue and Jamaica Center. The train will run local in both directions between Queens Plaza and 71st Avenue.
- For service between Manhattan and JFK Airport, the MTA suggests using the A instead.
- For service between Manhattan and Jamaica Center, MTA encourages commuters to consider the A and J via transfer at Broadway Junction.
D Train:
- Prospect Avenue is closed for renovation from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from July 7-10.
- For service to this station, take the D to 145th Street and transfer to a Norwood-bound D.
- For service from this station, take the D to 161st Street and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D.
- Coney Island-bound trains will be skipping 155th Street and182nd to 183rd Streets from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from July 7-10.
- For service to this station, take the D to Tremont Avenue and transfer to a Norwood-bound D.
- For service from this station, take the D to Fordham Road and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D.
- Coney Island-bound trains will also be skipping Union Street, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street and 25th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from July 7-10.
- For service to these stations, take the D to 36 St and transfer to a local Manhattan-bound D, N or R.
- For service from these stations, take the D, N or R to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D.
F Train:
- Prospect Avenue is closed for renovation from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from July 7-10.
- For service to this station, take the D to 145th Street and transfer to a Norwood-bound D.- For service from this station, take the D to 161st Street and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D.
- Coney Island-bound trains will be skipping 155th Street and182nd to 183rd Streets from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from July 7-10.
- For service to this station, take the D to Tremont Avenue and transfer to a Norwood-bound D.
- For service from this station, take the D to Fordham Road and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D.
- Coney Island-bound trains will also be skipping Union Street, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street and 25th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday from July 7-10.
- For service to these stations, take the D to 36 St and transfer to a local Manhattan-bound D, N or R. For service from these stations, take the D, N or R to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and transfer to a Coney Island-bound D.
M Train:
- There will be no trains between Myrtle Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue.
- L trains will provide alternate service at all times beginning at 12:01 a.m. through September 2017. M train service operates between 71st Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, as well as between Essex Street and Myrtle, and via the J to and from Broadway Junction.
N Train:
- Prospect Avenue is closed at all times for renovation. The MTA suggests using the nearby 25th Street R or the Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street F, G or R stations. Late-night D and N service is available at these stations as well.
- 53rd Street is also closed at all times for renovation until the fall. The MTA suggests using the nearby 45th Street R station or the 59th Street N and R station.
- All trains will be boarding at the Manhattan-bound platform at Queensboro Plaza from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 8-9. The MTA suggests allowing additional travel time.
- Coney Island-bound trains will be skipping Union Street, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street, 25th Street and 45th Street from 11:45 p.m. to 5 a.m. July 7-10.
- For service to Union Street, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street and 25th, commuters can take the N to 36th Street and tranfer to a local Manhattan-bound D, N or R. For service from these stations, take the D, N or R to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
- For service to 45th Street, take the N to 59th Street and transfer to a Manhattan-bound local N or R. For service from this station, take the N or R to 36th Street and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
Q Train:
- Coney-Island bound trains skip Avenue U and Neck Road from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday until July 31.
- For service to these stations, take the Q to Sheepshead Bay and transfer to a 96th Street-bound Q, the MTA suggests. For service from these stations, take the Q to Kings Highway and transfer to a Coney Island-bound Q.
R Train:
- Prospect Avenue is closed at all times for renovation. The MTA suggests using the nearby 25th Street R or the Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street F, G or R stations. Late-night D and N service is available at these stations as well. 53rd Street is also closed for renovation until the fall. The MTA suggests using the nearby 45th Street R station or the 59th Street N and R station.
- Bay Ridge Avenue is closed for renovation. Use the nearby 59th Street N/R or 77th Street R station instead. Bay Ridge-bound trains skip Union Street, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street, 25th and 45th Streets.
- For service Union, Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street and 25th, take the R to 36th Street and tranfer to a local Manhattan-bound D, N or R. For service from these stations, take the D, N or R to a Bay Ridge-bound R.
- For service to 45th, take the R to 59th Street and trasnfer to a Manhattan-bound local N or R. For service from here, take the N/R to 36th Street and trasnfer to a Bay Ridge-bound R.
- No trains will be running between Queens Plaza and 71st Avenue, but E and F trains will provide alternative service. Transfer between E and R trains at Queens Plaza or transfer between F and R trains at 34th Street-Herald Square.
J Train:
- The Manhattan-bound platform at 104th Street is closed for renovation until the end of the summer. The MTA encourages commuters to instead consider the nearby 111st Street or Woodhaven Boulevard J service.
- For service to this station, take the J to Woodhaven Boulevard and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J. For service from here, take the J to 111st Street and transfer to a Manhattan-bound J.
- The Manhattan-bound platform at 121st Street is closed for renovation until fall 2017. The MTA encourages commuters to instead consider the nearby 111st Street J service.
- For service to this station, take the J to Woodhaven Boulevard and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J. For service from here, take the J to Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue-JFK Airport and transfer to a Manhattan-bound J.
G Train:
- No trains are running between Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Church Avenue.
- A and F trains provide alternative service from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, July 7-10 and July 14-17.
- No service is available at Bergen, Carroll and Smith-Ninth Streets as well as Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street, Seventh Avenue, 15th Street-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Church Avenue. Commuters can instead take the F. - Transfer between A and G trains at Hoyt-Schermerhorn. Transfer between A and F trains at Jay Street-MetroTech.
