NEW YORK CITY — The NYPD announced the opening of the 109th neighborhood satellite command in Queens on Wednesday.
The 109th satellite command in College Point will not only expand patrols in the neighborhood but also divide the precinct into two zones — in an effort to improve emergency response times, officials said.
Fifty-four police officers and 12 supervisors will be assigned to the new satellite command.

"The men and women of the 109th Precinct are excited to broaden their reach in northern Queens in support of the NYPD’s overarching public safety mission,” NYPD Interim Commissioner Thomas Donlon. “The creation of this new neighborhood satellite command will enhance our ability to serve the community and contribute to the ongoing decrease in crime
The satellite command will be stationed at the NYPD's police academy in College Point.

"The community spoke, and we listened - and now, we are putting the needs of working people first with the opening of the 109th Neighborhood Satellite Command in College Point," Mayor Eric Adams said.
