NEW YORK CITY — A 2-year-old, 5-year-old, two cops and six others were hurt when a cop car jumped the curbed in a Bronx crash Thursday afternoon, according to police officials.
An NYPD SUV — rushing to stop a reported vehicle theft — hit another car, jumped the curb and slammed into six people near Hoe and Westchester avenues about 3:10 p.m., according to police and Chief of Patrol Jeff Maddrey.
"We didn't even catch the person who were trying to get," Maddrey said. "Once that accident occurred, the officers had to get into life-saving mode."

The people injured, two in critical condition, were taken to local hospitals, Maddrey said.
"No one is likely at this time," Maddrey said, meaning those hurt were expected to survive. "We know that they're getting the best medical care."
