Newlywed NYPD Cop Among 2 Killed In Maserati Crash
One of the two officers had been married earlier in the day.

NEW YORK, NY – Two off-duty NYPD officers, including one who was married earlier in the day, were killed in a crash in upstate New York on Sunday night.
John M. Martinez, 39, of Hauppauge, Long Island, was driving a 2018 Maserati in Shandaken, in the Catskills, when the vehicle left the road, struck a tree and overturned at 11:23 p.m.
Martinez and his passenger Michael Colangelo, 31, of Huntington Station, Long Island, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third person in the car suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Martinez was assigned to the NYPD's 84th Precinct Detective Squad, which covers the Brooklyn Heights area, and Colangelo was assigned to the Canine Unit, according to the NYPD.
Martinez was married earlier in the day in the town of Big Indian. His wife was not involved in the crash, according to Newsday.

State Police responded to the crash along with Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, NYC DEP, Big Indian Fire Department, Pine Hill Fire Department, Oliveria Fire Department, Phoenecia Fire Department and Shandaken EMS.
