NYPD Rescues Disabled Man, Dog Trapped In Flooded Basement
Remnants of Hurricane Ida are dumping flooding rain throughout New York City and the Northeast.

NEW YORK CITY — New York City police rescued a disabled man and his dog as remnants of Hurricane Ida dumped torrential rainfall throughout the area.
The two were trapped in a basement with three feet of water early Thursday morning, police said. NYPD Special Ops were able to safely bring the man and his pet to dry land.
Other city residents were not so lucky. According to the New York Post, four people died in New York City on Wednesday night when they became trapped in their basements. A 2-year-old boy and his parents who drowned in a basement apartment in Queens are among the dead.

Storms spawned by Ida have claimed the lives of at least nine people throughout New York City as of Thursday morning.
