Penn Station To Resume Regular NJ Transit, LIRR Service Sept. 5

Amtrak announced the "Summer of Hell" is about to end.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – Penn Station will return to regular service Sept. 5 after month of reschedules and diversions that were dubbed the "Summer of Hell," Amtrak announced Thursday.

The station's operator said it had nearly completed major repair work at the transit hub. During the past seven weeks, some Long Island Rail Road, NJ Transit and Amtrak trains that usually run to Penn Station had altered schedules, with many commuters forced to take different routes.
