Person Fatally Struck By Train In Manhattan, Multiple Lines Delayed

M and J service between Brooklyn and Manhattan is delayed in both directions after a person was struck by a train in the Lower East Side.

NEW YORK CITY — A person died after being struck by a train at a Manhattan station on Friday morning, causing multiple lines to be delayed.

M and J service between Brooklyn and Manhattan was delayed in both direction after the deadly incident at the Delancey St.-Essex Street station around 6:45 a.m.

Full service didn't resume until around 9:55 a.m., though delays remained throughout the day.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. What led up to the incident is not known at this time.

Police have not been able to determine if the man jumped, fell or was pushed onto the tracks.
