Pizza Vs Hot Dogs: Final Battle For NYC's Iconic Food Crown
NYC Snackdown's final matchup is between two culinary symbols of the Big Apple. Which will come out on top?

NEW YORK — The final battle for the Big Apple's bellies is one for the ages. Patch's quest for New York City's most iconic food is down to two of the biggest culinary stalwarts in the five boroughs: pizza and hot dogs.
Those venerable eats claimed took easy victories in the semifinals of our NYC Snackdown. Pizza racked up 149 votes in our poll last week while knishes got just 20. And hot dogs defeated cheesecake in a 105-64 landslide.
Arguably, the eaters could not have picked two better contenders to serve as the city's chief gastronomic ambassadors.

They're both ideal for eating on the go. They both come in a wide range of prices, qualities and varieties. And they're both have long histories in New York.
Lombardi's, the Little Italy joint that's been serving up pies since 1905, bills itself as America's first pizzeria. And the Coney Island merchant Charles Feltman has been credited with the invention of the modern American hot dog. It was reputedly his idea to serve the sausage on a bun, and one of his employees went on to start Nathan's Famous.
