President Trump, NYC Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani Will Meet At White House On Friday

NEW YORK CITY — President Donald Trump is set to meet with Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani at the White House for the first time on Friday.
Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post.
"Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran "Kwame" Mamdani, has asked for a meeting. We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st," the president wrote.

“The mayor of New York, I will say, would like to meet with us, and we’ll work something out. But he would like to come to Washington,” he said on Nov. 16.

"We want to see everything work out well for New York."
The mayor-elect has said he would be open to meeting with the president about making the city more affordable. His transition team confirmed the Friday meeting in a statement to reporters.
"As is customary for an incoming mayoral administration, the Mayor-elect plans to meet with the President in Washington to discuss public safety, economic security and the affordability agenda that over one million New Yorkers voted for just two weeks ago," Dora Pekec, a spokesperson for Mamdani, said.
Mamdani will take office on Jan. 1, 2026 and is in the midst of building out his staff. On Wednesday, Jessica Tisch agreed to stay on as NYPD Commissioner.
Additional details on the White House meeting have not been disclosed at this time.
