Reservations Open For NYC's 'Mega Restaurant Week': Mayor

NYC Restaurant Week will last five weeks this year and include more than 500 restaurants across the five boroughs.

NEW YORK, NY — New York City won't just welcome back in-person restaurant week in 2021 — it'll supersize it, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The mayor revealed Monday that NYC Restaurant Week, which operated only for takeout for its run earlier this year, will return this summer with five weeks of discounted meals at more than 500 restaurants across the five boroughs.

New Yorkers can make reservations starting Monday for the deals, which will kick off next Monday, July 19, de Blasio said.

"This is going to be amazing," he said. "Think about restaurants you’ve always wanted to go to — here's the opportunity. It’s a wonderful, super restaurant week."

The beloved restaurant week will mean $21 or $39 lunch and dinner options at the line-up of participating eateries, which includes more than 40 types of cuisines in 75 neighborhoods, according to organizers NYC & Company.

The 2021 in-person return will also feature a new $125 option called the "Signature Dining Experience," which will include three or more courses.

The lower-priced options will each include at least one entree and one side dish.

The return of restaurant week comes as New York City continues its campaign to restart tourism in the Big Apple, which flagged during the coronavirus pandemic. Both the mayor and organizers said the extended restaurant week will add to the effort.

"Accompanied with vibrant open streets and rich cultural activity returning across the five boroughs, the options this summer are endless and the time to visit is now," NYC & Company President Fred Dixon said.

The full list of participating restaurants can be found online.

There will also be exclusive deals for MasterCard holders, including a $10 statement credit on each transaction of $39 or more and the chance to win 200,000 airline miles with each NYC Restaurant Week meal.

Registration for restaurants to participate is still open through July 15, according to organizers.
