Belly is a self-described Korean bacon shop. Open since July, the restaurant offers such dishes as the chef’s bacon-steak, a bacon schnitzel, bacon sushi and the hurricane doughnut, topped with smokey whipped cream. On the Belly Facebook page, the restaurant also highlights its Sakesso, where sake meets espresso for a candied-bacon cocktail.

Neighborhood: Kensington

Thai street food has arrived in Kensington. The restaurant has been open since June, and so far, Yelp reviews seem to bode well for the new Brooklyn resident. One user lauded Mondayoff for its polite, attentive and knowledgeable servers and referred to the food as “delicious to the point of sinfulness.”
Yelp user recommendations include the khao neur ga-tiem (sautéed beef strips with Thai pepper and garlic over rice) and the shareable coconut ice cream. The Pool is the sister restaurant of The Grill, which also opened this year, and both eateries are located in Midtown. Unlike its sibling, however, The Pool specializes in seafood. Patrons can dine on caviar, seafood toast, Portuguese turbot, Scottish salmon, Montauk stripped bass and other dishes.
The Pool also maintains an extensive drink menu comprising white, red and rosé wine and a selection of cocktails. For dessert, patrons can choose from six dishes, including a made-to-order frozen yogurt with seasonal toppings.
Neighborhood: Forest Hills
Address: 72-01 Austin St.
Pink Forest opened in July amid Forest Hills’ ever-expanding shopping and dining scene on Austin Street. Although a self-described coffee shop, Pink Forest also offers hot and cold-brew coffee, specialty drinks, bubble teas, slushes and jianbing, a traditional Chinese street food similar to crepes. There’s also an art corner with paint, books and photographs cascading a wall of cork boards.
