NEW YORK CITY — Rudy Giuliani is a target in a Georgia probe into potential illegal attempts to interfere with the 2020 general election in that state by then-President Donald Trump, his lawyer said.

Georgia prosecutors conveyed the news to Giuliani's attorney in Atlanta on Monday, said Bob Costello, an attorney for the former New York City mayor, according to the Associated Press.

The New York Times first reported that Giuliani — who worked as Trump's attorney and did much to peddle unfounded conspiracy theories about the presidential election — faced the heightened scrutiny by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

The former New York City mayor must appear Wednesday before a special grand jury in Fulton County, a local judge ordered.

The probe by Willis started last year and centers on attempts by Trump and his advisers to, at best, cast doubts about the election results in Georgia that showed now-President Joe Biden carrying the state.

Willis has said the investigation will cover a notorious Jan. 2, 2021, phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which Trump urged him to “find” enough votes to overturn his narrow loss in Georgia.

“I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have,” Trump said, according to reports on the call.

Trump has called his call to Raffensperger “perfect" and denies any wrongdoing.

Giuliani isn't the only big political fish swimming around Trump who faces scrutiny in the Georgia investigation.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham — who is accused of calling Raffensperger after the 2020 election with questions about reexamining absentee ballots that could swing Trump's way — must also testify in front of a grand jury, a federal judge ruled Monday.
