SNL Editors: Live From New York, It's A Saturday Night Strike!
The strike threat by SNL's post-production workers is no joke — nearly all other employees on the show have union contracts.

NEW YORK CITY — Live from New York, it's a Saturday night strike!
The editorial team on "Saturday Night Live" set an April 1 strike deadline as they seek a contract, union officials announced.
The potential April Fools' Day strike — which, no joke, also falls on a Saturday — comes after months of failed talks with NBCU, the Motion Picture Editors Guild tweeted.

"SNL’s editorial team is paid far below industry standards," the tweet states. "Assistant Editors receive just a fraction of what their counterparts on union shows earn."
When reached by Patch, a source close to the negotiation had this statement: "NBC has committed to closing the negotiations by the end of the month and continues to work quickly to reach an agreement."

A picket line will form around 30 Rockefeller Plaza on April 1 if a contract isn't reached, union officials said.
SNL's editorial, or post-production, team cuts and edits clips for television. While other teams of workers on the show enjoy lucrative union contracts, the editorial team only recently organized, union officials said.
"For all anyone knows, the editorial team may be hilarious," the Editors Guild tweeted. "Gonna have to pay em more to find out."
