Sonic Opens First NYC Drive-Thru Restaurant

The location in East New, Brooklyn marks the third establishment in the New York City area but the first to feature a drive-thru.

NEW YORK CITY — Sonic announced the opening of its first drive-thru location in New York City Monday.

The location at 805 Penn Ave in East New, Brooklyn marks the third establishment in the New York City area but the first to feature a drive-thru, officials said.

Open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the newly opened Brooklyn SONIC location offers drive-thru and dine-in service, along with a pickup window and indoor seating for up to 20 guests, according to a news release.

“We are so excited to continue to expand SONIC’s presence in the Metro New York City area with this new location,” said franchise partner Jonathan Gensler. “The Brooklyn SONIC will offer everything our customers know and love with the added convenience of a drive-thru to enjoy their meals on-the-go. Our team’s looking forward to serving the community both within and beyond our restaurant doors for years to come.”

The Brooklyn SONIC will employ 40 team members from the local area, and those interested in joining the team are encouraged to apply at the company's career page.

In addition to drive-thru and drive-in service, Brooklyn SONIC guests can place an order online or through the SONIC App for contactless ordering and payment, as well as to take advantage of the monthly offers and discounts available to app users.
