Thanksgiving 2022: What Grocery Stores Are Open, Closed In NYC
Forget a stick of butter for your Turkey Day preparations? These grocery stores will be open.

NEW YORK CITY — Did you forget to buy a key ingredient for your famous Thanksgiving stuffing? Be thankful you live in The City That Never Sleeps, where most grocery stores remain open even on holidays.
Here's a look at what major supermarkets are open and closed on Thanksgiving Day in New York City for last-minute shoppers.
- Fairway Market: Stores will be open, but with earlier closing times than normal. The 86th Street store closes at 8 p.m., and the Chelsea and Kips Bay locations close at 6 p.m.
- Fresh Direct: FreshDirect will not be making deliveries from 3 p.m. on Thursday through Friday. "Any weekly reservations for these days will pause and resume the following week," the store's site states. Express service will be available in select areas Friday.
- Key Food: Stores will be open but may have reduced hours, or differing closing times — call your local store to check.
- Trader Joe's: All stores closed on Thanksgiving.
- Whole Foods: Most Whole Foods will be open on Thanksgiving, but will close at 3 p.m. The Bryant Park store will be closed.
