These Are NY’s Safest Hospitals, New Ranking Says

The Leapfrog Group, a watchdog founded 25 years ago, says it aims to improve American health care through transparency.

NEW YORK — Thirty-three hospitals in New York earned “A” grades based on their ability to protect their patients from often preventable harm, according to a new hospital safety report released Thursday.

The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grades are a biannual ranking that assigns a “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” to all general hospitals in the United States based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.

Here are the hospitals in New York that scored an A grade:

  • Catholic Health’s St. Catherine of Siena Hospital
  • Catholic Health’s St. Charles Hospital
  • Catholic Health’s St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center
  • Mount Sinai Queens
  • New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital
  • New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
  • New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center
  • New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital
  • New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital
  • New York-Presbyterian Westchester
  • New York-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center
  • Northwell’s Glen Cove Hospital
  • Northwell’s Huntington Hospital
  • Northwell’s Long Island Jewish Forest Hills
  • Northwell’s Long Island Jewish Valley Stream

Among the 33, 11 hospitals in New York City scored an A grade. Northwell Health had 15 hospitals score an A and 3 scored a Straight A, given to those earning an A grade for more than two years in a row.

New York placed 30th in the US, with 23.1 percent of its hospitals earning an “A".
