These Are NYC's Newest Million-Dollar Neighborhoods
Median home prices have broken the million-dollar mark in six nabes over the past five years, a new report says. Here's where they are.

NEW YORK — The big-time brokers may want to move downtown — or across the river. Six New York City neighborhoods have joined the list of districts where the typical home goes for $1 million or more, a new report says.
Median sale prices have crossed the million-dollar mark in three neighborhoods in Brooklyn and three others in Manhattan since 2015, giving the city 17 areas in all with that distinction — up from just four in 2010, according to the StreetEasy report published Monday.
Williamsburg made the list for the first time this year with the median home there going for $1,038,863, the real-estate listing website's analysis found. Prospect Heights and Brooklyn Heights also joined the million-dollar ranks with median prices of $1,160,000 and $1,010,000 this year, respectively.

Prospect Heights's abundance of townhouses and single-family homes may have helped it onto the list, while buyers were likely drawn to Williamsburg and Brooklyn Heights because of "their lively atmosphere and desirable location along the East River," according to StreetEasy.
Manhattan is still home to most of the city's million-dollar neighborhoods even though the borough has seen prices fall in recent months, according to the report.

Gramercy Park, the East Village and the Lower East Side have all crossed the $1 million line in the past five years, giving New York County a total of 11 neighborhoods on the list, StreetEasy says.
To compile its list, StreetEasy analyzed neighborhoods that have recorded at least 100 home sales in each year from 2015 to 2019. Neighborhoods where the median price of those sales was $1 million or more were included on the list of million-dollar neighborhoods. The analysis did not include areas where the median price per square foot was below $1,000 as a way to control for very large homes.
Here are New York City's newest million-dollar neighborhoods and their 2019 median sales prices, according to StreetEasy. Read the full report here.
