These New York Billionaires Among World's Richest, Bloomberg Says

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index updates its rankings on a daily basis. See how New York's billionaires fared.

NEW YORK — The Bloomberg Billionaires Index tracks the world’s 500 richest people on an almost continuous basis — and 28 New Yorkers are among them.

Bloomberg News updates the figures that feed its list after the close of every trading day at the New York Stock Exchange. Overall, 176 of the 500 richest individuals are American, and United States citizens also make up seven of the top 10 richest people globally.

Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon, maintains his spot as the richest person in the world. With a net worth of $52 billion, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg would rank 19th — but he's missing from his own company's list. That's because Bloomberg News does not cover Bloomberg LP, the company Bloomberg founded.
