NEW YORK CITY — New York City is squarely in the path of Tropical Storm Nicole, a massive cyclone that's expected to make landfall in Florida as a hurricane Thursday, forecasters warn.
Heavy rainfall will hit the city Friday, which carries a 100 percent chance of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.
"New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible," the forecast states.

After Nicole batters Florida with hurricane-force winds, it is expected to turn north and lash Georgia and the Carolinas, forecasters warn.
"The storm will continue to race along with impacts in the northeastern U.S. from later Friday to Friday night and in Atlantic Canada this weekend," an AccuWeather report states.
AccuWeather projected that Nicole's eye will pass just to the west of New York City after 7 p.m. Friday.
While Friday is all-but-certain to be rainy, the storm likely won't linger into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.
Rain on Saturday is most likely before 11 a.m., and isn't predicted for that evening, the forecast states.
