Two-Bedrooms, In-Unit Laundry Top NYC Apartment Searches In 2021
More space and in-unit laundry remain stubbornly hard to find in the city, but New Yorkers sought them anyway, according to StreetEasy.

NEW YORK CITY — New Yorkers kept high aspirations for their future homes during a difficult year for apartment shopping, according to a new study.
Two-bedroom apartments and in-unit washers and dryers topped 2021's apartment searches on StreetEasy, the real estate site reported.
Both remain stubbornly hard to find in much of New York City, but apartment hunters tried anyway.

"New Yorkers are craving more space," a StreetEasy release states. "Two-bedroom apartments saw 28% more search traffic on StreetEasy than they did in 2020."
In-unit washers and dryers accounted for 35 percent of searches that included an amenity, StreetEasy found. Pets weren't far behind at 30 percent of searches, followed by dishwashers at 24 percent.

Trendy neighborhoods were, well, trendy searches on StreetEasy.
Williamsburg and the Upper West Side claimed the top spot and number 2 spot, respectively, for most searched neighborhood — both for the second year running.
"West Village –Claimed #3 for the first time. Last year, it was the Upper East Side," a StreetEasy release states.
And here are the most saved rental listings for 2021 on StreetEasy, as stated on a release:
- Fort Greene 2-Bedroom – listed for $2K less than the neighborhood’s median asking rent for 2 beds
- East Village 1-Bedroom - listed for 13% less than the nabes’ median asking rent for 1-bed apartments
- West Village 2-Bedroom – listed for 36% less than the nabes’ median asking rent for 2 beds
