NEW YORK CITY — An abandoned package investigation at the World Trade Center transit hub caused PATH train delays to Newark in Lower Manhattan Wednesday morning, transportation officials said.

The notice was first shared on the PATH Alerts' X account about 9:03 a.m., with PATH train crews reporting an unattended package at the station.

A Port Authority of NY and NJ confirmed to Patch the package was a backpack left on a train. No evacuations were ordered.

Delays continued throughout the hour, with the delays cleared and normal train service returning at 10:06 a.m., PATH Alerts said.

The issue was investigated and declared resolved by the Port Authority Police Department.
