10 Hurt After Fire Rips Through Chinatown Building: FDNY
Two people and eight firefighters were injured after a blaze spread through a six-floor Mott Street building Friday, FDNY officials said.

NEW YORK CITY — A massive blaze ripped through six floors of a Chinatown building Friday and left 10 injured, including eight firefighters, FDNY officials said.
Videos posted on Citizen showed fire ladders extending up the front of 47 Mott St., near Bayard Street, as the flames licked outside its windows and smoke spewed upward.
The three-alarm fire began about 2:30 p.m. in the building's first floor, FDNY officials said.

The blaze quickly spread into the six-story building’s upper floors, officials said. Smoke eaters got the fire under control at 4:30 p.m.

The building appears to have souvenir shops on its ground floor and apartments above.
Fire marshals are investigating the blaze’s cause, officials said.
