When Will Nor'easter Stop? Snow To Last Through Early Saturday
The skies should clear later Saturday morning, but winds will continue to batter the New York City area.

NEW YORK, NY — New Yorkers will face snow and rain for several more hours Friday evening before the bulk of the nor'easter storm clears out of the city, forecasts show. Precipitation will stop falling early Saturday morning, but strong winds will continue to blow.
Rain and snow will pound the five boroughs until 7 p.m., the National Weather Service predicts. Then the rain will stop falling but the snow will continue. The storm had dropped nearly two inches of rain on Central Park as of just before 1 p.m. Friday, NWS measurements show.
The snow will finally stop around 6 a.m. Saturday, the weather service's hourly forecast indicates. Less than half an inch is expected to accumulate.

The storm's strongest winds are expected to slam the region into Friday evening, with gusts of nearly 60 MPH possible, the NWS says. The city will be under a high wind warning until 6 a.m. Saturday.
The clouds will make way for sunny skies on Saturday as the temperature rises to around 46 degrees. But winds above 20 MPH will likely blow until the early evening, with gusts as strong as 41 MPH possible.

Not all of the city will be out the woods, though. There will still be a risk of coastal flooding along the New York Harbor, the south shore of Staten Island and the Jamaica Bay in Queens at most times until early Sunday morning, the NWS says.
"The precipitation will go away, but the impacts are far from over," AccuWeather meteorologist Justin Povick said in a forecast video. "We're still talking about very high winds and dangerous surf conditions."
The storm grounded more than 1,000 Friday flights out of John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia Airports and has left more than 323,000 people without power statewide, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office said. Driving is still dangerous in the city and other parts of the state, officials say.
