Woman, 31, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver On NYC Highway: NYPD

Mary Rowell, was found unresponsive, lying on the roadway with trauma to her body, police said.

NEW YORK CITY — A 31-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver as she tried to cross the FDR Drive this past weekend, police said.

On June 29, at 12:14 a.m., a 31-year-old woman was struck by a sedan as she was attempting to cross the FDR Drive at exit 5 near Houston Street, police said.

The sedan had been travelling north on the highway and did not stop after the incident, police said.

Officers found Mary Rowell unresponsive, lying on the roadway with trauma to her body, police said.

Rowell was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

There have been no arrests, and an investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
