12- and 21-Year-Olds Accused In Rockland Religious Facility Burglaries
The 21-year-old, whom police would not name, is also accused of a local retail larceny and was wanted in New Jersey.
RAMAPO, NY — Two Monsey residents, one 21 and one 12, are accused of committing three burglaries at religious facilities in Ramapo last week.
On Aug. 24, the Ramapo Police Department received reports of overnight burglaries that had occurred at three separate locations including synagogues and shuls.
The Investigations Division quickly developed two suspects, police said.

At the time of the 21-year-old's arrest, he was in possession of proceeds from a larceny at a retail store in the Village of Montebello, police said. He was also implicated in a fourth burglary that had occurred July 22 at at a religious school in Monsey.
Both parties were charged with multiple counts of Burglary 3rd Degree (D-Felony), Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree (E-Felony), Grand Larceny 4th Degree (E-Felony) Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree (E-Felony), Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree (A-Misdemeanor), Petit Larceny (A-Misdemeanor) and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree (A-Misdemeanor).

The 21-year-old was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Court on all charges. He also had an outstanding warrant from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and was charged as a Fugitive from Justice. Bail was set at $10,000 for the Ramapo charges, however, he was sent to the Rockland County Jail pending a hearing in New Jersey on the outstanding warrant.
The 12-year-old was processed and released on an appearance ticket due to his juvenile status and his charges will be adjudicated in Rockland County Family Court.
Ramapo police Lieut. Chris Franklin said the department's policy is to not release the names of any arrestees.
