Five Charged in Strong-Arm Robbery
New City man and four teens accused in attack in Congers.
A 30-year-old New City man and four teenagers are accused of robbery and assault in connection with an attack on a 21-year-old man who was walking along Old Haverstraw Road in Congers on Monday, according to Clarkstown police.
A strong-arm robbery took place about 3:30 p.m., when a red Ford Mustang stopped on Old Haverstraw Road where the victim was walking. Police said five people jumped from the car and attacked the 21-year-old man, holding him to the ground and taking his wallet - containing money and personal papers.
The victim suffered minor injuries in the attack, police said.

When notified of the incident, police dispatchers alerted town officers of the description of the suspects and the vehicle involved. A Clarkstown police officer reported he had seen what he thought was the same vehicle 10 minutes prior to the robbery.

Clinton Anderson, 30, of New City
Lorenzo Thorpe, 18, of Valley Cottage
Marc Horowitz, 17, of New City
They were arraigned in Justice Court by Judge Craig Johns at Town Court in New City and released pending an Aug. 2 hearing to answer the charges of second-degree robbery, a felony, second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.
Two juveniles, ages 14 and 15, were also arrested on the same charges and will appear in Rockland County Family Court in New City to answer the charges, police said.
