Woman, 66, injured in Route 304 Crash

Two-cars collide, New City firefighters cut top of car off to rescue driver.

A 66-year-old Nanuet woman was injured in a two-car crash in New City Saturday morning that required New City volunteer firefighters to cut the top of the woman's car off so they could pull her from the wreckage.

Police said the accident at Route 304 and Leona Road took place at about 6:45 a.m. when a 1992 Ford driven by Ramone DeJesus, 45, of Haverstraw, collided with a 2010 Chevrolet driven by Dona Welchman of Nanuet. Police said Welchman was making a turn onto Route 304 when the crash took place.

Both drivers told police they had a green light.

Members of the New City Fire Department had to cut the roof off the 2010 Chevrolet so the driver could be rescued from the car. Welchman was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment, police said.

No traffic tickets were issued in connection with the accident, police said.
