One Tank Adventure: Storm King Sculpture And Scenery
Five hundred acres of stunning views are the setting in which visitors can view some world class scupture.
Can’t decide between nature and art for your next outing? You may not have to. A day trip to Storm King, located in Mountainville, New York, can offer both. Storm King, named after its proximity to Storm King Mountain, has the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the U.S. The sculptures stand outdoors, set against a panoramic backdrop of rolling grassy hills. The site's sculpture includes works by such world-famous sculptors as Louise Bourgeois, Henry Moore, Maya Lin, and Isamu Noguchi.
Visitors can explore the grounds by foot, rental bicycle or tram. Trams for visitors with limited mobility and young children run every half hour.
Because the grounds are so expansive, it can be hard to see everything in one visit. Staff at the center recommend spending at least four to six hours exploring to get the most out of the experience. And even then you may want to return for more.
