Sons Of Evergreen Court Resident File Lawsuit Over Death

The suit claims the adult home and its employees caused the elderly man's death through negligence.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A lawsuit was filed against the Evergreen Court Home for Adults by the family of a man who died from the fire.

Attorneys for Colin and David Hueston, sons of Oliver Hueston, 79, filed the suit Tuesday in state Supreme Court in New City, the Journal News reported.

The suit claims the adult home and its employees caused the elder Hueston’s death through negligence and being poorly trained.

The assisted living facility was a three-story hotel converted to house 112 residents. The fire broke out March 23, 2021, killing Volunteer Firefighter Jared Lloyd and Heuston.

Six people were charged, including father-and-son rabbis who were accused of using a propane-injected torch to do a ritual cleaning for Passover.
