Two Men Convicted in Robbery of Restaurant Patron
Theft caught on video surveillance system.
Two Nanuet men accused of robbing a woman outside of a restaurant - where they were caught in the act on a video surveillance system - have been convicted after a four-day trial in County Court in New City, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe.
Cenel Castelly, 29, and Lucson Julien, 24, of 8 White St., Nanuet, were convicted Monday of three counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, class "E" Felonies, three counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, class "E" Felonies and one count each of Petit Larceny, a class "A" Misdemeanor. The men were found guilty by County Court Judge William A. Kelly in a non-jury trial.
Zugibe said that on May 3, 2009, at about 3:30 a.m., Castelly and Julien stole a pocketbook from a female patron of O'Malley's bar and restaurant, 108 Main St., Nyack.
Orangetown Police located the two men a short time later in the village with the
contents of the victim's handbag in their possession - three credit cards, a wallet and a camera. The duo was captured on the bar's surveillance video stealing the pocketbook. The victim was not hurt in the incident.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15. Both men were remanded to the Rockland County jail in New City. Both men face up to four years in state prison.
