5 Displaced In New Hyde Park House Fire: Fire Marshal
The house where the fire occurred is uninhabitable after the fire, officials say.
NEW HYDE PARK, NY. — Five adults are without a home Monday after a Saturday night fire left their house uninhabitable, fire officials said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal said that a 911 call came in at 8:57 p.m. Saturday, at which point firefighters from New Hyde Park, Manhasset-Lakeville, Garden City, Garden City Park and South Floral Park responded to the site of the fire, a house on Plymouth Street.
A total of 65 firefighters were on-site, and had the fire under control in 40 minutes, fire officials said. Fire marshal investigators and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire, while the town of North Hempstead’s building department is also evaluating what officials called “serious damage” to the house, the fire marshal’s office said.
