Athletics Achievements Honored at BOE Meeting

Athletes, coaches honored from Elmont Memorial High School, H. Frank Carey High School and New Hyde Park Memorial High School.

The Sewanhaka Central High School District Board of Education recognized athletes and coaches from Elmont Memorial High School, H. Frank Carey High School and New Hyde Park Memorial High School at Board of Education meeting on Feb. 3.

Elmont Memorial’s varsity football Head Coach Jay Hegi and Assistant Coaches David Kinsley and Krupesh Patel, along with student captains Marc Cruz, Simon Kalu Jr., Kendall St Louis and Andre Whittick, were celebrated for receiving the Sportsmanship Award from the Long Island Association of Football Officials at the meeting. The board also honored varsity football coaches and players from H. Frank Carey High School, who were undefeated for their second consecutive season. The team was named Nassau County and Long Island Champions and earned the Rutgers Cup for the second time in as many years.

New Hyde Park Memorial’s Michael Kemmet and football coach Kevin Dolan were also acknowledged by the board. Kemmet received the Long Island Association of Football Officials Unsung Hero Award.
