Champion Cyclist Visits Denton Avenue School
Chris Poulos discusses bullying prevention with Herricks students.
The students and staff of Denton Avenue School recently enjoyed a unique character education program that combined inspirational messages with amazing bicycle stunts. Chris Poulos, world champion cyclist, engaged the audience in an active discussion and “role play” to address the topics of bully prevention, being kind to others, trying your hardest and never giving up.
Students enjoyed learning how Chris developed his skills and rose to the top of his sport. The culminating bike stunt thrilled the audience as Chris catapulted his bike over two of Denton’s bravest teachers, Mr. Michael Lesak, physical education teacher, and Mr. Emilio Gonzalez, fourth grade language immersion teacher.
Principal Mary Louise Haley would like to extend a special thank you to lead teacher, Mrs. Beth Rosenman and the PTA Programming Committee for bringing this inspiring program to Denton Avenue school.
