Cops: Masked Armed Robber Hits Jericho Gas Station

The incident occurred Sunday morning, police say.

Nassau Police are investigating a Sunday morning armed robbery by a masked man at a Jericho gas station.

Detectives say the man entered the Shell Gas Station located at 460 Jericho Turnpike at 10:23 a.m., demanding money while holding a silver handgun.

After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, the man fled on foot, heading west on Jericho Turnpike, police said.

No customers or other employees were present during the incident. There were no injuries reported, police said.

The man is described as six-foot, with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black mask, and gray sweatpants.

Police have reported several armed robberies at gas stations in the area, including one at the BP gas station at 39 Jericho Turnpike on Jan. 28, which left Hany Awad, a 56-year-old attendant from Levittown, dead.

And on Jan. 26, at 5:45 p.m., a man armed with a black handgun robbed a BP station in New Hyde Park. Less than an hour later, a man with a similar description robbed a BP station in Thomaston. In both robberies, the man fired his weapon, but no one was struck.

No arrests have been made yet in connection with these crimes.
