New Hyde Park Fire Company set to take over for Floral Park (newsday.com) — New Hyde Park residents should know their fire department is poised to permanently take over fire and, likely soon, ambulance service for areas once covered by the now-closed Floral Park Centre Fire Company. Since January 1, New Hyde Park firefighters and Nassau County medics have been covering the gap, while North Hempstead officials move toward a February 10 public hearing on a new contract and highlight an urgent need for more volunteer firefighters.
