Pedestrian Struck By Cement Truck In New Hyde Park
The man is in serious condition, police say.

A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a cement truck in New Hyde Park on Tuesday morning, police say.
According to authorities, a 57-year-old man was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a 2016 cement truck traveling southbound on Covert Avenue, at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike, at 10:52 a.m.
The 30-year-old driver of the cement truck remained at the scene and called police. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Police performed a brake and safety inspection on the truck at the scene and released it to the driver. Police do no suspect criminality at this time.
