2 Arrested In Violent Assault At Downtown Gas Station: Police
The victim told New Rochelle police that he had been struck in the head with a metal object during a dispute.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police have made two arrests after a disagreement at a gas station turned violent.
The New Rochelle Police Department says that on Saturday, around 6:30 p.m., officers were called to a report of a fight at the gas station at North Ave. and Lincoln Ave. Police said both the primary suspect and the son of the assault victim were arrested, after a violent altercation led to serious injuries and property damage.
Arriving officers were directed to a gray Subaru attempting to leave the gas station onto North Ave. Officers stopped the car and saw the driver was visibly suffering from a significant head injury. The victim told police that he had been struck in the head with a metal object during the dispute.

EMS responded to the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, officers at the gas station found the other person involved in the dispute, 60-year-old Chesterfield Bowen, of New Rochelle, standing near his vehicle. He was taken into custody. Police said evidence indicated that Bowen was responsible for the assault on the victim.

After the initial arrest, family and friends of the victim arrived at the scene and "became highly agitated," according to police. The victim's son, 31-year-old Calvin Holder, of New Rochelle, broke the side mirror off Bowen's vehicle, right in front of officers. He was then arrested and taken into custody.
Bowen was charged with felony first-degree assault, while Holder was charged with felony third-degree criminal mischief.
